Ryan Dungey wins Supercross race in Phoenix

PHOENIX (AP) — Ryan Dungey won the Monster Energy AMA Supercross race Saturday night at Chase Field, holding off Jake Weimer and defending series champion Ryan Villopoto.

Dungey, the KTM rider from Belle Plaine, Minn., got his first victory of the year with a strong effort. He finished third behind Villopoto last week in the season opener in Anaheim, Calif. Villopoto was third Saturday night, finishing behind Jake Weimer.

Dean Wilson, of Menifee, Calif., won the Supercross Lites race with a similarly dominant performance. Marvin Musquin finished second, while Tyla Rattray was third and moved into the Western Regional Lites points lead.
