CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Cody Ellis came off the bench to score 17 points and Saint Louis held off a late rally to beat Charlotte 68-67 on Saturday.

Mike McCall Jr. finished with 16 points, Brian Conklin had 14 and Kwamain Mitchell added 13 for the Billikens (14-4, 2-2 Atlantic 10), who fought back from a 14-point deficit in the first half to lead by as many as 13 with four minutes remaining in the second half.

Javarris Barnett had 23 points and three others — DeMario Mayfield, Chris Braswell and Pierria Henry — added 10 points each for the 49ers (9-7, 2-2), who made their own comeback in the final minutes.

Charlotte never trailed in the first half Saturday, scoring the game’s first seven points and building its lead into double digits just past the midway point.

But Saint Louis took advantage of the 49ers’ turnover problems in the second half.
