ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Norvsky ran down 7-10 favorite Jeranimo to win the $150,000 San Gabriel Stakes by 112 lengths Monday at Santa Anita.

Ridden by Rafael Bejarano, Norvsky ran 1 1-8 miles on the turf in 1:11.78 and paid $8.20, $2.80 and $2.40.

Defending champion Jeranimo returned $2.20 and $2.10. The Usual Q. T. was another 2 3-4 lengths back in third and paid $2.20 to show in his return after more than 712 months on the sidelines.

It was Norvsky’s first graded stakes victory, earning him $90,000 and increasing his career winnings to $487,844, with six wins in 18 starts. His biggest previous win came in the California Cup Classic in October.
