Stony Brook defeats New Hampshire 61-52

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) — Al Rapier scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds to help Stony Brook get back on the winning track, defeating New Hampshire 61-52 on Monday.

The Seawolves (10-7, 5-1 America East Conference) were 11 of 22 from the field in the second half for their seventh win in their last eight. Stony Brook won six straight before falling to Boston University 61-55 Saturday.

Tied at 21 with 2:45 left in the first half, Stony Brook’s Tommy Brenton made a layup and teammate Eric McAlister followed with a 3 to go up by five with 1:27 to go.

Alvin Abreu’s 3 cut it to two, 26-24, at halftime but New Hampshire trailed throughout the final 20 minutes.

Brenton finished with 13 points, going 5 of 5 from the field, and Bryan Dougher added 10 for Stony Brook.

Abreu led the Wildcats (6-10, 1-4) with 20 points, and Patrick Konan added 15.
