FEDERAL WAY, Wash. (AP) — Police found heroin and syringes but no weapon in the car in which a man was shot to death by a Federal Way police officer.

Auburn police are investigating and have identified the dead man as 21-year-old Maksim I. Mayba. The man suspected of driving the car, 21-year-old Gregory Barrager, was arrested on drug and eluding charges.

The Seattle Times reports (http://is.gd/8ssdkw) court documents identify the officer as Stacy Eckert, a nine-year veteran.

She was walking to a coffee shop Friday when she noticed two men who appeared to be making a drug deal in a car.

Auburn police spokesman Mike Hirman says when the passenger appeared to be fumbling with something under the seat, Eckert feared he was reaching for a weapon and shot him twice.
