Firefighters rushed about 8 p.m. Tuesday to a house fire at 23630 N.E. 232nd Avenue, several miles east of Battle Ground Lake.

A woman who was said to be the sole occupant noticed the fire, went outside safely and called 911.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the flames, but they had made it into the attic and at least one room of the house, said Assistant Chief Donavon Mattern.

The fire started outside in an attached carport. A downed powerline was found there, but that hadn’t been officially called the cause of the blaze, Mattern said.

The home is owned by Victor and Ann Norbury, according to county records.
