Old Dominion routs winless Towson 71-41

TOWSON, Md. (AP) — Nick Wright scored 13 points and Trian Iliadis added 12 as Old Dominion routed winless Towson 71-41 on Wednesday night.

The Monarchs (11-8, 6-1 Colonial Athletic Association) also defeated the Tigers 75-38 on Jan. 7 in Norfolk, Va., and lead the series 27-1.

Towson (0-19, 0-7) has lost an NCAA Division I record 38 straight games.

Old Dominion shot 52.7 percent (29 of 55) from the floor compared to 31.3 percent (15 of 48) for the Tigers, whose only lead was 2-0.

Towson did stay close the first nine minutes, trailing 14-13 until a Richard Ross dunk sparked a 9-2 Monarchs run.

Old Dominion led 33-24 at the break, then opened the second half with a 12-2 run to pull away.

The Monarchs’ biggest lead was 35 with 7 minutes left.

Robert Nwankwo was the only Tigers player in double figures with 12 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots.
