SEATTLE (AP) — The snow has stopped falling in most of Western Washington but officials from the governor on down are urging drivers to be cautious in their Thursday morning commute on roads likely to be icy.
Temperatures early Thursday were expected to be below freezing in many areas. The National Weather Service described precipitation late Wednesday night in Seattle and Tacoma as “light freezing drizzle.”
Gov. Chris Gregoire urged drivers to be careful on the roads. Seattle and King County emergency management officials say the cold temperatures will keep Wednesday’s snow and ice on many roadways. If you must drive early Thursday, they say take your time and focus on safety.
Seattle schools will be closed again Thursday, as will Bellingham schools and a number of other districts in Western Washington. In Eastern Washington, Washington State University canceled classes Thursday on its Pullman campus. Schools in the Tri-Cities of Kennewick, Pasco and Richland will be closed as well.
