PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — Washington State University is canceling all classes and suspending most other operations because of snowy weather in the Palouse.

All classes are cancelled for Thursday and only essential services such as housing, dining and health services will be open. Only those WSU employees previously designated as essential to campus operations should report to work.

The National Weather Service is forecasting that the Pullman region could experience high winds and up to 16 inches of new snow by Thursday evening.

The last weather-related closure of the Pullman campus was in February 2008.
