BALTIMORE (AP) — Ryan Cook and Brian Neller combined for 36 points as Maryland-Baltimore County defeated winless Binghamton 64-58 and sent the Bearkats to their 19th consecutive loss Thursday night in an American East game.

The Retrievers (3-15, 2-4) opened with a 9-0 run and never trailed in ending their four-game losing streak. For Binghamton, which lost its season finale last year and is now 0-18 this season (0-6 America East), freshmen Ben Dickinson and Jimmy Gray combined for 26 points, scoring 16 and 10 points, respectively.

A three-point play by Chase Plummer (13 points) with 8:30 left put UMBC ahead 50-37. Binghamton went on an 8-1 run to draw within 51-45, but Cook and Neller reasserted themselves, combining for 24 of the Retrievers’ 34 second-half points, including the final 13.

UMBC was 6 for 15 on 3-pointers, Binghamton just 1 for 5. UMBC’s last four league opponents had combined for 33 treys.
