LISBON, Portugal (AP) — Olympic triple jump champion Nelson Evora of Portugal has injured his right shinbone again.

Evora’s club Benfica said in a statement the former world champion would have medical tests Thursday.

News reports said Evora collapsed in pain and clutched his shin as he warmed up for a field event in Lisbon on Wednesday and was rushed to hospital in an ambulance.

He had surgery on the same shin two years ago, sidelining him for more than a year.

Evora, a surprise winner at the 2007 world championships, won the triple jump gold medal at the Beijing Olympics.

He is due to compete at the March 9-11 indoor worlds in Istanbul.
