Professional and aspiring writers take note — Jan. 29 is Unpublished Writers’ Day and an event will be held downtown Vancouver.
The writer’s day will feature a series of workshops, activities and “creation stations.” It will be from noon to 5 p.m. at the Clark County Historical Museum. Admission is free.
The writer’s day is a partnership between the historical museum and the creative media and digital culture program and writing center at Washington State University Vancouver.
The workshops will cover topics such as writing for mobile media, résumé writing, creative writing and writing for radio.
Instructors include Christopher Luna and Toni Partington, editors of Printed Matter Vancouver; Sam Mowry, director of the Willamette Radio Workshop; Brett Oppegaard, assistant professor of communications; Teresa Phimister, WSU Vancouver academic coordinator; and Brian Schlosser, lead consultant of the WSU Vancouver writing center.
The event will also highlight the legacy of Washington-born writer Richard Brautigan. The Brautigan Library, a collection of nearly 300 unpublished manuscripts by authors from 31 states, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, India and Saudi Arabia, is on permanent exhibit at the Clark County Historical Museum.
