Lafayette rallies to top Holy Cross 54-43

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — Trailing by 10 points at halftime, Lafayette outscored Holy Cross 40-19 in the second half en route to a 54-43 victory Thursday night in Patriot League play.

The Leopards (8-11, 3-1) were led by forwards Ryan Willen and Dan Trist, and guard Tony Johnson, who scored 11 points apiece. Holy Cross (8-10, 2-2) did not have a single player in double figures. Leading scorer Devin Brown and Mike Cavataio led the Crusaders with 8 points each.

Trailing 24-14 at the half, Lafayette went on a 17-2 run to open the second half and take a 31-26 lead. Five different Leopards scored in that stretch, which kick-started Lafayette toward a 49-40 lead with 3:36 left.

The Leopards connected on 7 of 23 shots from the 3-point arc. Holy Cross, meanwhile, hit just 1 of 14 3-point attempts, 7.1 percent. The Crusaders shot 18 for 54 from the floor, 33.3 percent.
