La Center police are now using an electronic ticket and collision reporting system in their cruisers.

Officers can scan driver’s license and registration bar codes in the field and submit them electronically, saving time.

“I would be doing a disservice to the department if I didn’t implement new innovation that assists the officers in performing their job in a safer and more efficient manner,” La Center Police Chief Tim Hopkin said in a release.

The system is funded by other state agencies. There was no cost to the department to obtain and use the software.
