STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Big Ten coaches might want to make sure they watch the AFC Championship game on Sunday.

The man who oversees the high-powered New England offense is headed to Happy Valley.

New Nittany Lions coach Bill O’Brien’s staff is starting to think up schemes for a team that has struggled at times with the ball the last two seasons.

Offensive line coach Mac McWhorter this week echoed O’Brien’s intentions when he said assistant coaches were studying a playbook and planned to run the Patriots potent system.

There may be limitations of course given the talent difference. And it’s still eight months until the season opener.

Penn State assistant Stan Hixon asked fans “to give O’Brien a chance to show the product and get the program in the right direction again.”
