PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Derrick Thomas scored 20 points, hitting all five of his 3-pointers, and Drexel shot 60 percent from the field to cruise past Northeastern 71-53 Saturday for its sixth straight win and 12th in its last 13.

The Dragons (14-5, 6-2 Colonial Athletic Association) took a 25-7 lead at the 10:56 mark, but the Huskies closed to 33-25 by halftime.

Jonathan Lee’s 3-pointer got Northeastern (9-9, 5-3) within seven early in the second half, but Drexel used a 9-2 run to push the lead into double figures for good.

Thomas made 7 of 8 field goals, including four 3-pointers in the first half — and the Dragons finished 21 of 35 from the floor and 9 of 14 from long range.

Samme Givens added 19 points and Damion Lee 17 for Drexel, which hit 20 of 30 free throws.

Lee’s 16 points led the Huskies, who snapped a four-game winning streak.
