Brown defeats Bryant 67-60, snaps 6-game skid

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) — Stephen Albrecht scored 21 points as Brown snapped a six-game losing streak with a 67-60 nonconference victory over Bryant on Monday night.

Andrew McCarthy added 15 points and nine rebounds and Sean McGonagill had 15 points and seven assists for the Bears (6-13), who have won all 11 games they’ve played against the Bulldogs (2-18).

Bryant led 28-15 but the Bears dominated the final 9:18 of the first half, tying the game at 36 on a 3-pointer by Albrecht and taking a 38-36 halftime lead on his jumper with 56 seconds left.

The Bulldogs tied the game at 41 on a 3-pointer by Corey Maynard, but McCarthy’s layup put Brown ahead to stay, 43-41, and the Bears led by as many as 10 points, 56-46, after a 7-0 run capped by McGonagill’s 3-pointer with 10:08 left.

Alex Francis scored 17 points and Maynard 15 to pace Bryant.
