Fatal crash at Gig Harbor, trooper also injured

GIG HARBOR, Wash. (AP) — The Washington State Patrol says a 44-year-old woman was struck and killed Monday morning on Highway 16 at Gig Harbor.

Trooper Guy Gill says she was out of vehicle trying to help at a collision when she was hit.

Gill says a trooper at the scene also was struck and he suffered a knee injury.

The patrol reports multiple collisions Monday morning on icy roads in the south Sound region.
