North Carolina A&T beats Coppin State 93-92 in OT

BALTIMORE (AP) — Adrian Powell hit a 3-pointer with 39 seconds left in overtime and North Carolina A&T held on to beat Coppin State 93-92 on Monday night.

Coppin State had three chances to win, but Akeem Ellis missed a 3, Michael Harper a jumper and Antonio Williams a layup in the final 16 seconds.

Nic Simpson, whose layup as regulation expired sent the game into overtime, 81-81, led the Aggies (9-12, 4-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) with 22 points. Marc Hill added 20 and Powell finished with 15.

Tony Gallo made 1 of 2 free throws with 48 seconds left in regulation and a jumper with 7 seconds left to put the Eagles up 81-79. North Carolina A&T then struck first in overtime, before the two teams traded baskets the rest of the way.

Harper scored 30 points and Gallo 22 to lead Coppin State (9-11, 4-3), which snapped a three-game win streak.
