SEATAC, Wash. (AP) — For the second year in a row, a flight tracking company has honored Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, finding its on-time performance is tops among major international airports. FlightStats says Sea-Tac also finished as a finalist in the category of best on-time performance among major North American airports.

The company documents the on-time performance of airlines at airports around the world. Airports are recognized for delivering the highest percentage of gate departures less than 15 minutes after the scheduled departure time.

FlightStats says the airport’s 2011 on-time performance record was 86 percent. The average on-time performance was 71 percent for the category of major international airports.

Sea-Tac Airport Managing Director Mark Reis credits efficiencies built into the airfield, terminal and runway operations, as well as hard work by port employees and airlines.
