OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Businesses impacted by the recent winter storm may get an extension on their tax filings.

Gov. Chris Gregoire has asked the state Department of Revenue to grant extensions, saying the road conditions and power outages clearly affected some businesses. Businesses seeking a delay on their monthly filing must request one by Wednesday, and those seeking a delay in quarterly or annual filings can request it by the end of the month.

Revenue Director Brad Flaherty says businesses that are unable to request an extension on time can still request to have their penalties waived.
