Western Illinois defeats Nebraska-Omaha 81-70

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Obi Emegano scored 24 points and Ceola Clark added 20 to lead Western Illinois to an 81-70 victory against Nebraska-Omaha on Tuesday night.

Jack Houpt added 15 points for the Leathernecks (11-8), who shot 58.7 percent (27 for 46), including 10 of 17 from 3-point range.

Alex Welhouse scored 17 points and CJ Carter and Mitch Albers added 14 each for the Mavericks (7-15), who are reclassifying to Division I this season and will join Western Illinois as a full Summit League member in 2012-13.

Emegano scored nine of the Leathernecks’ points in a 12-2 run over a 5:33 stretch of the second half. Houpt added a 3-pointer during the surge, which gave Western Illinois a 69-54 cushion with 3:14 remaining.

Terell Parks had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Leathernecks.
