SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The Spokane County sheriff’s office says two women who escaped from the Geiger Corrections Center Monday night were recaptured within an hour.

The sheriff’s office says the two used a blanket to cover razor wire and climbed over a security fence, but both suffered numerous cuts. They were treated at a hospital and booked into the primary jail in downtown Spokane.

Officials were alerted to the escape when one of the women asked for a ride at a business. She had bloody hands and was wearing one shoe and she said she had “jumped the fence” at the corrections center.
