PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Portland police say a man they shot and killed Wednesday morning had a replica handgun he pointed at them.

The police say the man, 21-year-old Bradley Morgan, was on the roof of a parking garage, where he called 911 and said he wanted to be killed by police officers.

He threatened to jump.

Two police officers responded to the scene and talked to Morgan for about 25 minutes. Police say he then pulled the replica handgun.

Police called two Portland groups that aid with negotiations with people with mental illnesses, but they were each at least 25 minutes away.

The two officers who fatally shot Morgan have been put on administrative leave.

Morgan’s autopsy is scheduled for Thursday morning.
