ASPEN, Colo. (AP) — Lindsey Jacobellis tore a ligament in her left knee Wednesday during practice for the Winter X Games and will not have a chance to go for her fifth straight gold medal in snowboard cross.

Jacobellis crashed on the final landing on the course and tore her ACL. She was trying to become the first female to win five straight golds at the Winter X Games.

Jacobellis has seven gold medals overall and is the leader in the World Cup standings.

The 2006 Olympic silver medalist, who squandered the gold after showboating during her final jump, said in a statement that she’s out for the X Games but is “determined more than ever to take the necessary steps to rehabilitate my knee and come back even stronger next year.”
