PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) — The tradition of sticking dollar bills on the walls of Fat Smitty’s cafe began years ago when a traveling salesman wrote his name on a bill and tacked it to the wall.
Now an estimated 6,000 dollar bills cover the walls and ceiling at the cafe at Discovery Bay near Port Townsend. But, they’re coming down Saturday.
The Peninsula Daily News reports (http://is.gd/muYmK0 ) Boy Scout volunteers will take down the money, which will be donated to the Scouts or charity.
Manager Casey Carson says the tradition will continue when Fat Smitty’s reopens around March 1.
