Jacksonville State defeats Eastern Illinois 63-45

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Brian Williams scored 18 points and Nick Cook had 12 points and 10 rebounds to help Jacksonville State defeat Eastern Illinois 63-45 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday night.

The Gamecocks (8-14, 3-6) had a 42-28 rebounding edge, including 18-11 on the offensive glass, and shot 52 percent (13 of 25) in the second half to 25.9 percent (7 of 27) for the Panthers (9-10, 2-5).

Williams hit two 3-pointers in the final minute of the first half to give Jacksonville State a 32-22 lead at the break.

After Eastern Illinois cut the lead to six, 36-30, the Gamecocks put the game away with a 23-7 run, including nine points by Williams, to lead 59-37 with 4:13 remaining.

Darion Rackley added 11 points and Tarvin Gaines 10 for Jacksonville State, and Dion Waiters had 12 rebounds.

Alfonzo McKinnie led Eastern Illinois with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
