Louisiana Tech edges Fresno State 59-58

RUSTON, La. (AP) — Brandon Gibson dropped in the game-winning layup with 2 seconds left to lift Louisiana Tech over Fresno State 59-58 on Thursday night.

Kevin Olekaibe sank two free throws to put Fresno State up 58-57 with 17 seconds left, its first lead since just after halftime.

Kenyon McNeail attempt at a go-ahead layup with 9 seconds left didn’t fall, but Louisiana Tech grabbed the rebound and called a timeout. Coming out of the quick break, Gibson got the ball and laid it in for the win.

Cordarius Johnson led Louisiana Tech (11-10, 3-3 Western Athletic Conference) with 16 points. Louisiana Tech has tied its season best with three straight wins.

Louisiana Tech outrebounded Fresno State 34-29, and also had the edge in second-chance points at 19-6.

Olekaibe scored a game-high 20 points to pace Fresno State (9-13, 1-5), which has lost back-to-back games.
