PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — Officials at Washington State University are considering a system to fine students who violate the school’s code of conduct.

Currently only students who violate drug and alcohol rules face financial penalties. But school officials say students who steal or violate other provisions of the code of conduct may also face fines in the future.

The proposal must first be approved by the school’s board of trustees, then presented to student groups and department leaders.
