EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Jurors in Eugene, Ore., have convicted a 75-year-old man of second-degree manslaughter and drunken driving for heading the wrong way on a freeway and killing a Florence man last November.

The Register-Guard reports (http://is.gd/pn4KTd ) that the manslaughter conviction carries a mandatory minimum sentence of more than six years. A Circuit Court judge scheduled sentencing Monday for Eldridge Maready of rural Eugene.

Jurors were told that Maready’s pickup truck smashed into Gerald Brooks’ subcompact car last Nov. 8 on a bridge. They returned their verdict Friday.
