Florida Gulf Coast defeats Kennesaw State 92-74

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Freshman Filip Cvjeticanin scored a career-high 17 points and Florida Gulf Coast used a huge second-half run to pull away from Kennesaw State for a 92-74 win Saturday.

The Eagles (11-10, 6-4 Atlantic Sun Conference) matched a program high for number of victories with 11, equaling the 2008-09 squad. Scoring more than 90 points in their third consecutive contest, they also accomplished their first three-game winning streak of the season.

Tied at 47 with 12:35 remaining, Brett Comer’s two layups sparked a 19-4 run. Cvjeticanin capped the spurt at 66-51 with two 3-pointers.

Chase Fieler added 15 points and Sherwood Brown 14 for Florida Gulf Coast, which shot 60.4 percent (29 of 48) and made 27 of 34 free throws.

The Owls (3-19, 0-10), who have lost 10 straight, shot 47.6 percent (30 of 63) with Markeith Cummings scoring 20 points and Aaron Anderson adding 15 points and 11 rebounds.
