PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) — Quincy Roberts scored 24 points, including 3 of 4 on 3-pointers, as Grambling State defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 60-55 Saturday night.
After a 48-all tie with 3:50 remaining, Grambling State (3-15, 3-5 SWAC) sparked a 6-0 run, predicated by 4 of 4 from the free throw line, over the next three-plus minutes to take a 54-48 lead with 35 seconds remaining. Arkansas-Pine Bluff (2-19, 1-7) clawed to within 56-53 with 18 seconds to play on a layup by Lazabian Jackson, but the Golden Lions were forced to foul and Grambling State converted six consecutive free throws to seal the win.
Mitchell Anderson scored 12 points and Savalace Townsend added 11 to lead the Golden Lions as their only players to score in double digits.
Grambling State succumbed to a 7-1 scoring run by the Golden Lions in the first half’s final 4:30 to trail 34-28 at the break.
