PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Authorities say a teenager has died after slamming into a tree while snowboarding.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office says 17-year-old Taylur Dewolf of Sandy had severe trauma to her head and chest. The ski patrol for Mount Hood Skibowl found her body about 10 feet from a groomed downhill trail on Friday night.

Dewolf was snowboarding with family and friends but had not been seen for three hours. Witnesses told investigators that she had been snowboarding at very high speeds.

Authorities say there are no suspicious circumstances and the death is considered accidental.
