Indiana State beats Evansville 90-81 in double OT

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Dwayne Lathan scored 27 points, tying his career high, and Indiana State held off Evansville rallies to prevail 90-81 in double overtime on Sunday night.

The Sycamores (13-9, 4-7 Missouri Valley) scored the first eight points of the second extra period and held an 11-2 scoring advantage overall. Indiana State led most of the game, including 42-31 at intermission. Steve McWhorter scored 12 points and Jake Odum scored 10 for ISU.

Kenny Harris’ three-point play for the Purple Aces with 1:52 left in regulation capped a comeback from a 56-44 deficit and tied the game at 66.

Colt Ryan led Evansville (10-11, 5-6), scoring 23 points before fouling out in the second overtime. He was 10 for 10 from the free-throw line, including two with 3 seconds left in the first OT to tie it at 79. Harris finished with 19 points and made all 11 of his foul shots.
