Penguins get hoop sweep

Austin Bragg scored 17 points, Derek Owens added 16 and the Clark College Penguins improved to 17-1 with an 80-70 victory over Grays Harbor College on Saturday in Aberdeen.

Earlier, Chelsea Dyson scored 25 points to lead an onslaught as the Clark women routed the Chokers, 118-72, improving to 14-3.

Clark women 118, Grays Harbor 72 — Clara Russell scored 23 points, Macy Mukensnabl scored 21, Janae Davis had 18 points off the bench and Deborah Simmers added 10 points. Every Clark player scored.

Davis had a game-high eight rebounds, and Russell and Dyson combine for nine of the Penguins’ 16 steals.

Clark reached triple digits despite 2-for-13 shooting from 3-point range.

Clark men 80, Grays Harbor 70 — Blake Bowen also reached double figures for the Penguins with 11 points. Owens had a team-high eight rebounds to go with his points, and Bragg grabbed seven boards as Clark posted a 50-30 rebounding advantage.

Clark hosts South Puget Sound on Wednesday, with games at 6 and 8 p.m.
