Before Clark County goes any farther building a new Interstate 5 bridge with light rail that many of its residents don’t want and can’t afford, it’s time to let folks here have a vote.
Bridge proponents have handed too much money to consultants who miss their deadlines. All of this has happened with little accountability to voters.
My family has lived in Clark County since the late 1800s. Currently working in Oregon, I think we can all agree this bridge is important, but we should be asked how the new bridge is to be designed and paid for. We need a vote. It’s unacceptable when local leaders explain why they can’t or won’t get this done. I, my neighbors, family and friends are all watching our local politicians. If they don’t make this vote happen, we will use ballots to send them a message they can’t miss.
