PASCO, Wash. (AP) — A 29-year-old Pasco man who pleaded guilty to killing his sister with a machete was sentenced Tuesday in Franklin County Superior Court to 15 years in prison.

Aaron Velasco apologized in court as his parents sat behind him.

KNDU reports (http://is.gd/hPdaNP ) the judge accepted the suggestion of the prosecutor who recommended the 15-year sentence — three years less than the maximum — in exchange for Velasco’s pleading guilty to second-degree murder.

Velasco called 911 on June 9 and said he had killed his sister. Officers found the body of 22-year-old Magdalena Velasco-Garcia outside the home the two shared. Police said she had been attacked with a machete in domestic violence.
