Summer climbing permits for Mount St. Helens on sale beginning Wednesday

Climbing permits for Mount St. Helens this summer will go on sale beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday on the website of the Mount St. Helens Institute.

The permits are available for pickup at Lone Fir Resort in Cougar.

Climbing permits are required year-round. Permits are free and unlimited for climbing November through March. From April 1 through May 14, permits are unlimited, but cost $22.

From May 15 through Oct. 31, there is a limit of 100 permits a day at a cost of $22 each.
