PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The condition of a 5-year-old boy who was swept away with his family in a flooded Albany creek is improving at a Portland hospital.
Doernbecher Children’s Hospital told The Oregonian (http://is.gd/xTQGec) Maliki Wilgus has been upgraded from critical to serious.
He and his 24-year-old father, Karl Wilgus, survived after their car was swept from a grocery store parking lot into rain-swollen Periwinkle Creek. His mother and 1-year-old brother died.
