New Mexico State dumps Cal State Bakersfield 78-57

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — Wendell McKines had 20 points and 14 rebounds as New Mexico State defeated Cal State Bakersfield 78-57 Wednesday night.

Daniel Mullings added 16 points and Hernst Laroche had 10 for the Aggies (16-7), who shot 55 percent from the floor and hit 4 of 10 3-point attempts.

Bakersfield (11-12) got 15 points and nine rebounds from Donald Johnson. Stephon Carter added 13 points and Zach Lamb had 11.

New Mexico State opened the second half on a 9-2 run, taking a 45-33 lead on a McKines’ 3-pointer with 15:42 to play. The Aggies extended the lead to 58-41 with 9:25 remaining when Laroche converted a three-point play and knocked down a pair of free throws to cap an 11-2 run.

Bakersfield made just 3 of 17 3-point attempts and shot 38 percent from the floor.
