PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A Ukrainian hockey coach charged with fondling a teen player in Philadelphia has waived his right to bail and will remain in custody.
Ivan (ee-VAHN’) Pravilov (PRAH’-vuh-lahv) is also accused of threatening a teen witness. He’s been a mentor to several NHL and college players.
A public defender didn’t comment Wednesday on why Pravilov is no longer seeking bail. But the coach is wanted on an Interpol warrant for a 2007 assault in the Ukraine.
The 48-year-old Pravilov ran an elite hockey school in the Ukraine before moving to the U.S. in 2007 to run camps and clinics.
