Letter: Ranger guide brings history to life

The Columbian
Published: July 2, 2012, 5:00pm

On a recent Sunday, my family and I had a chance to participate in a guided tour of the reconstructed Fort Vancouver. We were impressed by the knowledge shared by Ranger Mike Twist, and learned much we did not know, even though we have visited the fort several times during our more than 30 years in Vancouver.

The world history of the early 1800s was described well by Twist, and the detailed descriptions of the fur trade and the Hudson’s Bay Company were interesting. We extend our thanks to the National Park Service for hiring talented rangers, such as Twist, to bring alive the events that shaped Vancouver and Clark County.
