LONDON (AP) — Arsenal captain Robin van Persie says he will not extend his contract with the Premier League club..

The Dutch forward held talks with Arsenal about a new deal before the European Championship. His current deal expires at the end of the 2012-13 season.

Van Persie wrote Wednesday on his website: “I’ve thought long and hard about it, but I have decided not to extend my contract.”

Van Persie added that after meeting with manager Arsene Wenger and chief executive Ivan Gazidis “it has again become clear to me that we in many aspects disagree on the way Arsenal FC should move forward.”
