Sockeye salmon retention in the Columbia River between Bonneville Dam and the Highway 395 Bridge at Pasco will be closed beginning Monday.
Washington and Oregon officials announced the closure on Friday.
Biologist Chris Kern of the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife said the sockeye catch guideline for non-Indians is 5,400 fish, based on a forecasted run of 540,000.
Sockeye retention downstream of Bonneville Dam closed on July 2. Without the closure between Bonneville and Highway 395, the non-Indian catch is projected to total 5,636 sockeye.
Snake River sockeye are listed under the federal Endangered Species Act. Anglers upstream of Highway 395 are allowed six sockeye per day because their fisheries are upstream of the listed Snake River fish.
