Archangel wins Yonkers Trot

YONKERS, N.Y. (AP) — Archangel won the $445,592 Yonkers Trot on Saturday night, beating Stormin Normand by 1 1/2 lengths in the first leg of the Trotting Triple Crown.

Archangel, driven by Jim Morrill Jr. and trained by Peter Arrigenna, took advantage of two breaks by the heavily favored Googoo Gaagaa to win the race for 3-year-old trotting colts at Yonkers Raceway.

Archangel ran the mile in 1:54.1, and paid $11.80 to win.

Market Share was third.
