Klizan beats Bedene to advance at Croatia Open

UMAG, Croatia (AP) — Seventh-seeded Martin Klizan of Slovakia beat Aljaz Bedene 6-2, 6-2 on Monday to advance to the second round of the Croatia Open.

Klizan, playing for the first time as a seeded player, dominated from the start to easily defeat the Slovenian wild card.

Also, Russian wild card Andrev Kuznetsov won his first match this year on the ATP Tour, beating Spain’s Daniel Munoz-De La Nava 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (5).

Klizan next faces Matthias Bachinger of Germany, who saved two match points against Portugal’s Joao Sousa in a 6-7 (5), 6-1, 7-6 (6) victory.
