STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Joe Paterno’s son Jay says the family is eagerly awaiting the release of Penn State’s internal investigation into the Jerry Sandusky scandal and wants “the truth to come out.”

Asked Thursday if he would have an open mind about the conclusion of the investigation by former FBI director Louis Freeh, Jay Paterno told NBC’s “Today” show the family has “never been afraid of the truth.”

The Freeh report is scheduled to be released at 9 a.m. His team has interviewed hundreds of people to learn how the university responded to warning signs that its once revered former defensive coordinator was a serial child molester.

Sandusky is awaiting sentencing after being convicted on 45 criminal counts last month following included gut-wrenching testimony from eight young men who said he abused them.
