SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Marvin Williams acknowledges Thursday he was surprised by a trade that sent him from Atlanta to the Utah Jazz.

Yet the eighth-year pro remains excited about the opportunity for a fresh start on a team he knows competes hard — as evidenced by a four-overtime thriller the two clubs played in Atlanta last season.

The 26-year-old Williams has been introduced as the newest member of the Jazz on Thursday. He was acquired in a trade last week that sent point guard Devin Harris to the Hawks. The deal was formally announced Wednesday when a league-wide moratorium was lifted.

The 6-foot-9 forward says he expects to meet with Jazz officials next week in Chapel Hill, N.C., to discuss their specific plans for him. He shot 39 percent from 3-point range last season.
