MIAMI (AP) — The Miami Marlins agreed to a contract with first-round draft pick Andrew Heaney, giving the Oklahoma State left-hander a $2.6 million signing bonus.

The deal Friday with the No. 9 overall selection was for $200,000 less than his slotted value under baseball’s new labor contract.

Heaney was selected Big 12 Conference pitcher of the year. He was 8-2 with a 1.60 ERA in 15 starts, and led the NCAA with 140 strikeouts in 118 1-3 innings.
