BALTIMORE (AP) — Left-hander Dana Eveland has been designated for assignment by the Baltimore Orioles, who also activated catcher Taylor Teagarden from the 60-day disabled list.
Eveland was 0-1 with a 4.73 ERA in 14 appearances, including two starts.
Manager Buck Showalter knows Eveland might be claimed off waivers, but hopes he will end up joining Baltimore’s Triple-A affiliate in Norfolk. The manager says Eveland needs to throw every fifth day, and that wasn’t going to happen in Baltimore at this time.
Teagarden came to the Orioles in a December trade with Texas. He has been sidelined since April 4 with a strained back.
The Orioles also outrighted catcher Ronny Paulino to Norfolk and purchased the contract of reliever Miguel Socolovich from Norfolk. Socolovich was 3-0 with a 1.77 ERA with the Tides.
